Opinion

Friday night I lost my iPhone. A world-crushing realization, the loss of my phone forced me to face the level of dependence I had developed on that tiny rectangular beast. Not only can I no longer be reached, I no longer have access to hundreds of accumulated numbers, I do not have any sort of music-playing device, and I am essentially out a couple hundred dollars. What is life without text messaging, Facetime, and endless Internet and email access? I guess I am about to find out. The overwhelming guilt that I feel for losing my phone is only amplified by my parent’s reaction to the news. Taking the loss as a direct indication of my incredible irresponsibility, my punishment will be the cheapest, non-email, non-camera phone available at AT&T. Until that point, my social life will be reduced to a web of Facebook messaging and chance encounters. Glad to find out the hard way that Apple has no policy for stolen or lost gadgets.
